General
Equipment Function
All Simulated Multifunction Keypads are FOR SIMULATOR USE ONLY and are not intended for flight applications.
The Simulated Multifunction Keypad (MKP) is designed to emulate the operation of the MKP-2130. In addition to being a plug-and-play simulated replacement, functionally, physically, and structurally interchangeable with the aircraft panels, the MKP also provides additional capabilities of USB and Ethernet communication.
"simMKP" (Boeing Simulated P/N: C01-2800-811) replaces aircraft P/N: 822-3458-101, equivalent to Mfr P/N: MKP-2130.
Internal Component Overview
The MKP design incorporates all functionalities found on the corresponding aircraft model. However, this design has additional features that can be utilized in a simulator environment to expand the utility of the instrument. In some cases, the regular aircraft connectors can be abandoned entirely. In this case the DSUB connector can be used instead. Ethernet is also provided to monitor all aspects of the device, and, if needed, to remotely control its operation. The Ethernet functionality can be used at the same time as the regular aircraft functionalities are operational and can create an extra layer of monitoring the instrument during use.
